One day in 2004 we were browsing through the pages of the worlds biggest online marketplace and recognized several items and descriptions that were not acceptable with our morals. Suddenly a thought came to our minds: Why do we expect that non-muslims create websites that are compatible with our religious principles ? We must create our own virtual environments.
Why does no competitive islamic marketplace exist, that serves the islamic world ? A marketplace without unwelcome items, descriptions or pictures. A website that can also be viewed together with our children.

That's why we started Islamo - The islamic marketplace.

At the end of 2004 we presented first the german site, with now more than 400 members, for giving the 4 million muslims in Germany the possibility to buy or sell in an islamic environment. Now (March 2006) we are very proud to present the international version of Islamo.

"Islamo" and politics

A private person has its political views, but a company/project/website should be impartial. Islamo is a non-political site. Political statements are not welcome and will not be tolerated.
However – because of the political incidents around the world – we want to state explicitly:

Who are we ?

We are a community of muslims that wants to help all brothers and sisters around the world to buy or sell their goods to other muslims without paying superelevated fees. On our site everybody who follows our rules is welcome. Muslims and non-muslims.
